Canada Water

Canada Water is a small area in the London Borough of Southwark. It sits on the tips of the Docklands, in between Bermondsey and Rotherhithe.

Although the area is called Canada Water, the name actually refers to the freshwater lake around which fairly recent development has taken place. It is still developing as a residential area, although a number of new developments have helped to attract people into the area. The Surrey Quays Shopping Centre provides ample retail opportunities and the area’s proximity to the centre of London and also to Canary Wharf has helped to ensure its increasing popularity.

Canada Water underground is on the relatively new Jubilee line expansion and it is zone 2. It offers travellers a quick and easy route into central London. Buses also travel into town and out to Greenwich, Deptford and Woolwich so the area is well served by public transport.
