Abbey Wood

Abbey Wood stretches across two London Boroughs: Greenwich and Bexley and it lies between Plumstead in the east and Belvedere to the west. It is a popular commuter area due to its close proximity to the centre of London.

Abbey Wood has extensive recreational facilities including the large Lesnes Abbey Wood from which it gets its name. The abbey itself is now a ruin but it has great historical relevance to the area and it is a scheduled ancient monument. Housing is numerous and varied with a good selection of Victorian and more modern developments.

Transport options are improving to this area of southeast London all the time. At present there is only the option of overground rail travel from Abbey Wood station. However, the new crossrail development will include Abbey Wood. There are plenty of bus routes operating to surrounding areas and into the centre of London.
