Wimbledon

Wimbledon is in the London Borough of Merton, around seven miles south west of central London.

The area is best known for the annual tennis championships and for two weeks every year it is under siege with tennis players, fans and entourages. There are plenty of high street shops, bars and restaurants on the main road and inside the Centre Court Shopping Centre. For higher-end independent shops and restaurants Wimbledon Village is around ten minutes on the bus. Housing is a mix of large detached properties, period conversions and new purpose built apartments. The mix of housing is reflected in the mix of residents from families and long-tern locals to young professionals.

Transport options are good with a mainline, underground and tramlink station. The underground is in zone 3 on the end of the District Line while the Tramlink runs east through Croydon to the boroughs of south-east London. Mainline trains run north to Waterloo and Luton and south to Sutton and Guildford.
