What type of property survey should you have?

If you are taking out a mortgage the lender will insist upon carrying out a valuation inspection. Although you will bear the cost of this it is just a valuation for the lender's purposes and not a survey. The two most common types of property survey are an RICS Homebuyer Survey and Valuation, often referred to as a Homebuyer's Report and a Building Survey. The Homebuyer's Report will be suitable in most cases. The exceptions are properties that are more than 150 years old, that have been substantially altered or that have known structural problems. If any of these exceptions apply a Building Survey, previously known as a Full Structural survey, will be more appropriate.

Information on City EC4

The City EC4 postcode covers a number of areas including Blackfriars, Mansion House, Cannon Street and St Paul’s. Spreading from the River Thames in the south, up to St Paul’s Cathedral in the north, this is a varied part of London.

As the name suggests, City EC4 is an area of the City of London that is primarily associated with the financial institutions that are prominent along many of the streets. However, with St Paul’s and the riverside also coming under the postcode, there is much to EC4 than banks and insurance offices. For example, the famous City of London School is a prominent feature of the area. With regards to property, there is ample choice when it comes to both period and new apartments, with a good range of sizes and price tags. Houses are hard to find.

EC4 has a number of tube stations dotted around the area and these include Mansion House, Cannon Street, Blackfriars and St Paul’s. Cannon Street and Blackfriars are also mainline stations, operating services to the south of London.
