What type of property survey should you have?

If you are taking out a mortgage the lender will insist upon carrying out a valuation inspection. Although you will bear the cost of this it is just a valuation for the lender's purposes and not a survey. The two most common types of property survey are an RICS Homebuyer Survey and Valuation, often referred to as a Homebuyer's Report and a Building Survey. The Homebuyer's Report will be suitable in most cases. The exceptions are properties that are more than 150 years old, that have been substantially altered or that have known structural problems. If any of these exceptions apply a Building Survey, previously known as a Full Structural survey, will be more appropriate.

Information on Blackfriars

Blackfriars is on the north side of the River Thames, in the London Borough of Southwark. It lies to the east of Temple and to the west of Mansion House and Cannon Street. Southwark is directly across the river.

Blackfriars has an enviable location close to the riverfront and there are a number of large and imposing historical buildings that line the frontage. Although still on the edges of the City, the area is nudging towards the less commercial area of London and it provides a kind of link between the City and the West End, which is a short distance away. King’s College and Temple Church are close by and this is a particularly important historical area of London that is very enjoyable to explore. Blackfriars Bridge links the area to Southwark and Waterloo.

Blackfriars underground station is on the District and Circle line and is in zone 1. Mansion House, City Thameslink and Temple stations are all close by.
