What type of property survey should you have?

If you are taking out a mortgage the lender will insist upon carrying out a valuation inspection. Although you will bear the cost of this it is just a valuation for the lender's purposes and not a survey. The two most common types of property survey are an RICS Homebuyer Survey and Valuation, often referred to as a Homebuyer's Report and a Building Survey. The Homebuyer's Report will be suitable in most cases. The exceptions are properties that are more than 150 years old, that have been substantially altered or that have known structural problems. If any of these exceptions apply a Building Survey, previously known as a Full Structural survey, will be more appropriate.

Information on West Dulwich

Stretching across the two London Boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark, West Dulwich lies in between Brockwell Park and Dulwich Park, surrounded by Herne Hill, Tulse Hill and Sydenham.

West Dulwich is still close enough to Dulwich Village to share some of the affluent feel of its neighbour, however it doesn’t quite have the same amount of exclusivity or the same price tags on its houses. There are plenty of shopping facilities, mainly on Croxted Road and there is a good selection of basic and more specialised shops. The abundance of green space, as well as the Dulwich Picture Gallery and the gorgeous grounds of Dulwich College help to add to the genteel feel of the whole area and it is certainly in contrast to some of the more built-up, urban areas that are close by.

West Dulwich station in on the line into Victoria station and the journey takes 12 minutes. Tulse Hill station is also quite close to the area and provides further travel opportunities, whilst local bus routes run a regular and efficient service.
