What type of property survey should you have?

If you are taking out a mortgage the lender will insist upon carrying out a valuation inspection. Although you will bear the cost of this it is just a valuation for the lender's purposes and not a survey. The two most common types of property survey are an RICS Homebuyer Survey and Valuation, often referred to as a Homebuyer's Report and a Building Survey. The Homebuyer's Report will be suitable in most cases. The exceptions are properties that are more than 150 years old, that have been substantially altered or that have known structural problems. If any of these exceptions apply a Building Survey, previously known as a Full Structural survey, will be more appropriate.

Information on Peckham

Peckham is in the London Borough of Southwark. Bermondsey is to the north, New Cross to the east and Camberwell to the south.

Peckham has traditionally been a working class area with a large stock of terrace housing and council flats and houses. In more recent years the area has become more diverse, both culturally and ethnically, and this has coincided with a gradual regeneration programme of Peckham and its surrounding areas. There is a large shopping precinct in the centre of Peckham, as well as the award winning Peckham Library that dominates the area.

Transport wise, Peckham is served by Queens Road Peckham railway station. From here, trains go directly into London Bridge in 7 minutes. There are plenty of options for bus travel as well, with frequent services into the centre of London and to Camberwell, Brixton and New Cross.
