What type of property survey should you have?
If you are taking out a mortgage the lender will insist upon carrying out a valuation inspection. Although you will bear the cost of this it is just a valuation for the lender's purposes and not a survey. The two most common types of property survey are an RICS Homebuyer Survey and Valuation, often referred to as a Homebuyer's Report and a Building Survey. The Homebuyer's Report will be suitable in most cases. The exceptions are properties that are more than 150 years old, that have been substantially altered or that have known structural problems. If any of these exceptions apply a Building Survey, previously known as a Full Structural survey, will be more appropriate.

Information on WandsworthWandsworth is just south of the River Thames is the borough of the same name.
It is popular with younger professionals who can’t stretch to Wandsworth Common prices and are looking for smaller properties and conversions. Wandsworth has the standard high street banks and building societies but amenities don’t compare to those of nearby Wandsworth Common. However there is large cinema and a large supermarket and for a better selection of shops Northcote Road is only a few stops on the bus. The area is the route to the north side of the river and the A3 meaning traffic can sometimes be a problem.
There is no underground in Wandsworth so East Putney (District Line) is the closest option and is around a 15-minute walk or a short hop on the bus. Trains run direct from Wandsworth Town Rail to Waterloo (via Clapham Junction) and the journey takes around 15 minutes.
