What type of property survey should you have?

If you are taking out a mortgage the lender will insist upon carrying out a valuation inspection. Although you will bear the cost of this it is just a valuation for the lender's purposes and not a survey. The two most common types of property survey are an RICS Homebuyer Survey and Valuation, often referred to as a Homebuyer's Report and a Building Survey. The Homebuyer's Report will be suitable in most cases. The exceptions are properties that are more than 150 years old, that have been substantially altered or that have known structural problems. If any of these exceptions apply a Building Survey, previously known as a Full Structural survey, will be more appropriate.

Information on Streatham

Streatham is a bustling, inner city area in the London Borough of Lambeth. It is bordered by Tooting, Tulse Hill, Norwood and Norbury and covers a fairly large area.

Streatham is a vibrant town with a wide cultural and ethnic mix, which has resulted in a good range of shops, services and restaurants. Despite going though a period of decline, Streatham is once again on the up and businesses have been retuning to the high street in recent years. There are a number of large estates in and around the area and housing is very mixed. Certain roads are extremely sought after and there are enclaves of large period properties, as well.

Streatham has three mainline railway stations that stagger from north to south. However the main stations for the centre of Streatham are Streatham and Streatham Common. Streatham operates direct services into London Bridge and Blackfriars, while Streatham Common will take you into London Victoria.
