What type of property survey should you have?

If you are taking out a mortgage the lender will insist upon carrying out a valuation inspection. Although you will bear the cost of this it is just a valuation for the lender's purposes and not a survey. The two most common types of property survey are an RICS Homebuyer Survey and Valuation, often referred to as a Homebuyer's Report and a Building Survey. The Homebuyer's Report will be suitable in most cases. The exceptions are properties that are more than 150 years old, that have been substantially altered or that have known structural problems. If any of these exceptions apply a Building Survey, previously known as a Full Structural survey, will be more appropriate.

Information on Putney

Putney is situated on the south of the river Thames, running along the bank in between Barnes and Wandsworth. It is in the London Borough of Wandsworth.

Putney is an affluent and desirable area that is considered to be close enough to the centre of London for work and yet far enough away to be able to enjoy the abundance of riverside activities, restaurants and bars. Housing in Putney tends to be expensive but there are opportunities for more affordable options in modern apartment blocks and smaller flats in converted Victorian residences.

Putney is well served by public transport and it has the option of both mainline rail and underground. East Putney tube is in zone 2/3 and is on the District line, whilst Putney Rail station will take you into London Waterloo in just under 20 minutes. Putney Bridge underground station lies just across the river and this is also on the District line.
