What type of property survey should you have?

If you are taking out a mortgage the lender will insist upon carrying out a valuation inspection. Although you will bear the cost of this it is just a valuation for the lender's purposes and not a survey. The two most common types of property survey are an RICS Homebuyer Survey and Valuation, often referred to as a Homebuyer's Report and a Building Survey. The Homebuyer's Report will be suitable in most cases. The exceptions are properties that are more than 150 years old, that have been substantially altered or that have known structural problems. If any of these exceptions apply a Building Survey, previously known as a Full Structural survey, will be more appropriate.

Information on Clapham Park

Clapham Park is a small area to the east of Clapham Common. It is in the London Borough of Lambeth and sits between Clapham central and Brixton.

Clapham Park was originally designed to be an exclusive estate of large family homes in the early nineteenth century. Whilst a number of large Edwardian houses were constructed, much of the original plan was abolished. These houses, which are located mainly along Rodenhurst Road demand sky-high prices due to their size and location. Much of the original planned estate has since been developed into council housing. The area around Clapham Park is still much sought after and people flock to this desirable postcode with its huge park and great amenities.

Clapham Park is served by both Clapham South and Clapham Common underground stations, which are in zone 2. They are both on the Northern line. Clapham High Street railway station is a short walk away, with trains into London Victoria taking about 10 minutes.
