What type of property survey should you have?

If you are taking out a mortgage the lender will insist upon carrying out a valuation inspection. Although you will bear the cost of this it is just a valuation for the lender's purposes and not a survey. The two most common types of property survey are an RICS Homebuyer Survey and Valuation, often referred to as a Homebuyer's Report and a Building Survey. The Homebuyer's Report will be suitable in most cases. The exceptions are properties that are more than 150 years old, that have been substantially altered or that have known structural problems. If any of these exceptions apply a Building Survey, previously known as a Full Structural survey, will be more appropriate.

Information on Pimlico

Built as a southern extension to Belgravia, Pimlico sits on the northern banks of the river Thames in the borough of Westminster.

The area was developed as a grid of imposing white stucco buildings and garden squares though there has been a recent spate of new developments. Given its geography it’s no surprise that Pimlico is popular with MPs, wealthy professionals and internationals. With Chelsea to the west and Westminster to the east culture, dining and shopping really are on your doorstep and there is a Farmer’s market every Saturday morning. For outside spaces Battersea Park is around a mile away and has the added attraction of the zoo.

Pimlico tube station is on the Victoria Line in zone one and it’s only three stops to Oxford Circus. For train connections Vauxhall is under a mile away on the south side of the river or Victoria is just one stop on the tube.
