What type of property survey should you have?

If you are taking out a mortgage the lender will insist upon carrying out a valuation inspection. Although you will bear the cost of this it is just a valuation for the lender's purposes and not a survey. The two most common types of property survey are an RICS Homebuyer Survey and Valuation, often referred to as a Homebuyer's Report and a Building Survey. The Homebuyer's Report will be suitable in most cases. The exceptions are properties that are more than 150 years old, that have been substantially altered or that have known structural problems. If any of these exceptions apply a Building Survey, previously known as a Full Structural survey, will be more appropriate.

Information on Islington

Islington is located to the North of London between Camden Town and Shoreditch. At the heart of Islington is the shopping area around Upper Street which is now dominated by bars, estate agents and coffee shops. Also on Upper Street is The Business Design Centre; a major exhibition and conference venue.

The most sought after property in the area are the Georgian town houses that surround the area’s squares. Most popular are Cloudesley and Lonsdale squares. For something a little different many of the old industrial buildings alongside The Grand Union Canal have now been converted to modern apartments. Angel Station in the heart of Islington is located in zone 1 of the Northern Line with a journey time to central London of between 10 and 15 minutes.
