Information on Swiss Cottage

Swiss Cottage is a fashionable area in the London Borough of Camden, sitting on the southern end of the Finchley Road, between Belsize Park, Hampstead and St John’s Wood.

It’s a place full of history, with the two-centuries-old, centrally located pub, Ye Olde Swiss Cottage and its Swiss chalet design, providing an iconic sight to many visitors. There are many cafes and much local entertainment, including at the Odeon cinema and the Hampstead Theatre. The Swiss Cottage Central Library is housed in a building on Avenue Road, designed by Sir Basil Spence, while a council-run leisure and sports centre can be found on Adelaide Road. The area’s housing includes mansion blocks, converted Victorian houses and some tower blocks.

Swiss Cottage has its own zone 2 tube station on the Jubilee line with a journey into the west end taking 5-10 minutes.
