A few tips on buying a property in Hampstead

Getting registered with the main local agents is a great first step but to be at the front of the queue when that dream property becomes available you need to be what the agents consider a ‘hot buyer’. Most Estate Agents will focus on the "hot" buyers first as these are the people that the negotiators within the office consider to be in the best position and the most likely to offer on a property.

To be classed as a hot buyer you need to have your finances in place, be pro-active when a new property becomes available and be decisive. If you want to be one of the first buyers that an agent thinks of when a popular property comes on the market pop into their offices when you are passing and remind them that you are still looking. Agents are more likely to remember you if they can put a face to the name.

Information on Hampstead

Hampstead is a premium-priced area of North London with a village-feel, located within the London Borough of Camden and bordering Belsize Park. It’s an area with an immense history, having been a home to many great literary and artistic figures including William Blake, Charles Dickens and Daphne du Maurier, but in recent years the area has become too pricey for the bohemian.

Hampstead has an array of cafes and restaurants and the huge open space of Hampstead Heath is on the doorstep. Housing comes in many shapes and sizes, including Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian, while new penthouse developments have also sprung up. There’s much entertainment and learning to be had at The Everyman Cinema, Kenwood House and in the numerous museums, including Keats House and The Freud Museum.

Hampstead Station is on the Edgware branch of the Northern Line, on the boundary between zone 2 and 3. There’s also an overground station, Hampstead Heath.
